Alice Phelps

piano tutor & workshop leader

By day Alice runs multi-sensory workshops for children and adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities. She has recently started at Play for Progress and is enjoying being part of this musical family. By night Alice can be found playing jazz and blues in various London underground venues with her blues band and fronting new Orleans traditional gospel brass band 'Gator Dog Snappers'

Alice composes from the harp and the violin, creating orchestral and choral pieces reflecting on past and present experiences she has herself come across or witnessed from afar. After a sell out show  for the release of her first record at the legendary Passing Clouds  venue she has taken London by storm playing at the National Portrait Gallery, Royal Academy of Arts, Ronnie Scott’s, Green Note and the Jamboree to name but a few. This summer the band performed at Cambridge Folk festival, previous years they have appeared at Shambala, Wilderness, Secret Garden Party and Standon Calling. Record number two is soon to be with us as Alice and the band will be going into the studio in early 2019.
